Philo has some great upcoming television. In this week’s programming update, I’ve included holiday specials, jaw-dropping premieres, and binge-worthy reality. Here’s a round-up of what to watch on Philo this week.
 
Monday, October 18th
A&E’s Hoarders offers an inside look into the lives of people that have buried their pain under tons of stuff. With the help of experts and loved ones, watch as they turn their lives around and create the space they need to heal. Tune in beginning Oct. 18th at 8/7c.
 
Based on the novel by Robin R. Means Coleman, Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror, a Shudder Original, is an American documentary that delves into the relationship of Black culture and its impact on the horror cinema genre with exclusive interviews from influential figures like director Jordan Peele, actors Rachel True and Keith David, and author Tananarive Due. Watch the film on Oct. 18th at 10/9c on Sundance TV.
 
Tuesday, October 19th
Games People Play follows an overlooked basketball wife, a persistent journalist always in search of the next big newsbreak, a sordid groupie willing to do anything to become a star, and a host of other disparate characters trying to navigate The City of Angels and a world of sex, money, drugs, and glamour. Tune in to the season two premiere, Oct. 19th at 10/9c on BET.
 
Wednesday, October 21st
“Nothing good happens after midnight.” Tell that to the emergency responders that make up the cast of Nightwatch, and they’re sure to agree. These medical responders work the busy, unpredictable 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. shift, battling time and circumstances while attempting to save lives. A&E’s Nightwatch, executive produced by Law & Order’s Dick Wolf, premieres Oct. 21st at 10/9c.
 
Friday, October 22nd
This holiday season is kicking off with a bang with Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Christmas In My Heart. When Beth, a talented concert violinist, tutors the daughter of a famous but evasive music star, they connect through the healing power of music and possibly, love. Catch the movie premiere, starring Heather Hemmens and Luke Macfarlane, on Oct. 22nd at 10/9c.
 
Looking for even more Christmas movies to binge? The Hallmark Channel comes bearing gifts with their Countdown to Christmas event. Watch the first holiday movie premiere, You, Me & The Christmas Trees, Oct. 22nd at 8/7c. Danica McKellar and Benjamin Ayres star in this romantic film about evergreen tree experts who team up with a Christmas tree farmer to get to the bottom of a mysterious illness that’s threatening this year’s crop. Hallmark Channel’s special holiday event will be debuting new holiday movies every week from now until December 20th.
 
Saturday, October 23rd
On The Dead Files, medium Amy Allan and retired NYPD detective Steve DiSchiavi team up to combine their eccentric and at times contradicting skill sets to solve unexplained paranormal phenomena in haunted locations across the United States. Catch a new episode on Oct. 23rd at 10/9c on The Travel Channel.
 
Switched Before Birth tells the story of two women’s journey with in vitro fertilization whose paths intersect when one of them accidentally becomes implanted with the other’s child. Watch the Lifetime movie premiere on Oct. 23rd at 8/7c with Philo.
 
Sunday, October 24th
When Emma’s boss steals her idea for their magazine cover story, she searches for a miracle to write about the magic of Christmas. Along the way, she teams up with the handsome staff photographer and an unexpected romance begins to blossom. Tune in to A Christmas Miracle, starring Tamera Mowry-Housley and Brooks Darnell, on Oct. 24th at 10a/9c on the Hallmark Channel.
