Keeping track of a small Amazon Fire Stick remote control can be stressful. Maybe your kids took it in their room, maybe it’s between the couch cushions or maybe your spouse left it in the bathroom. Who knows, right?
What I love about Amazon’s devices is that unlike Roku, Amazon’s products can communicate with other products. And in this case, I’m gonna walk you through how to setup your TV remote to work your Fire Stick.
(Note that your television must have “CEC” capabilities. Don’t worry, most TV’s do.)
How to Enable CEC on Your TV
First thing you wanna do is make sure your Fire Stick is connected to your tv and powered on. Now let’s check that the CEC (Consumer electronic control) function is activated on your television. Go into your menu, looking for a ‘settings‘ or ‘setup‘ tab and select it. If you’re having trouble finding it just go into every menu until you see CEC. Note that different television brands have different menu styles.
Second thing you need to do is go into your CEC settings and turn them on. Note that most Smart TV’s come with CEC enabled.
There should be a tab that allows you to verify attached devices. If yours doesn’t have this, don’t worry. As long as CEC is on, you should be good.
How to Enable CEC on Fire Stick
Now go into your Fire Stick settings and click on “Display & Sounds.”
