Great news for the cord cutting community. Sinclair Broadcasting, which is a publicly traded company (SBGI) has launched a free streaming service and it’s called STIRR. There was talks in the news about this service back in December 2018 and now it is here.
So how does it work? I would compare it to Pluto TV but with live TV options with local programming from networks like Comet TV.
As of now the viewing options aren’t plentiful but I expect big growth from them because there are very few free legit streaming services that do what they do.
What does Stirr Have to Offer?
Aside from the obvious being free movies, they also offer free original content like cooking shows and news. You can also set your location so that you see your local channels, but like I said the options are low as of now, they just launched.
Interestingly you can set your location to a different city than the one you live in, which I thought was cool.
Similar free streaming services like Pluto TV, Stirr also has original content along with news stations and they are constantly adding more and more channels. And just like Pluto TV they have a channel guide which is similar to the ones you’d see in a set-top-box or cable box.
In closing compared to the other free platforms available I wouldn’t move this to the top of my list just yet. But it will still make a great addition to your streaming channel.
