If your like me you’re thinking you can just adjust your non-Dolby television’s settings to mimic Dolby Vision. Well, you can do this but there’s a 99 percent chance your non Dolby tv wont last. To simply put it, you’ll most likely get screen burn out or a constant flickering. I tried that and after a few weeks my tv went bonkers, it had the blue screen or the image would distort after a few minutes. The tv was only 2 years old and I finally realized what was causing this issue after I reset my tv settings and the problem went away, this was over 2 years ago.

What is Dolby Vision?
Dolby Vision is a proprietary technology developed by Dolby Laboratories that enhances the viewing experience of movies and TV shows. It is a high dynamic range (HDR) format that provides brighter highlights, greater contrast, and a wider range of colors than standard dynamic range (SDR) formats. Dolby Vision uses metadata to communicate scene-by-scene instructions to the TV, telling it how to adjust the brightness, color, and contrast to match the content being displayed, therefore a normal television cannot be adjusted and expected for hold these values at a constant rate. To simply put it, Dolby Vision televisions have the Dolby Vision tech.
