Roku without question is one of the top streaming players available today, but it does have its faults. In this post I’m gonna go through a list of my gripes with the streaming player. Some you may agree with and some you may not.

The ‘channel shortcut buttons’ are always an issue for me. I always tend to press them by mistake. Whether by sitting on the remote control of inadvertently pressing the wrong button in the dark. I noticed that some buttons ask you to verify before changing but most of them simply change to the streaming service without asking you to verify.

When this happens I have to go back into my previous app and find the movie or TV show I was watching.

  • The fix

Make a shortcut available on the home screen so that when this happens we can access the app we were in. Or ask for verification whenever any shortcut button is pressed.

  • The problem

Audio and video not matching in certain apps. Most of the time I have to restart my Roku player to fix the issue. In some apps like Vudu most of the time restarting does not fix the issue. Once I tried 5 times and finally gave up.

Now I know this could be an issue with Vudu but it has happened previously in the Hulu and Tubi tv app. I have never experienced any of these issues with my Firestick or AirTV player. I’ve tried changing my displays settings and still no fix.

  • The fix

If the issue is with the app maker, find out what’s causing the problem and come up with a solution. Hold every app maker to the same standards.

The problem

Connecting an external audio source is a necessity. The Roku player is the only streaming player that only allows specific brands or models of external speakers to connect via bluetooth.

Sure there are ways around this by using the Roku mobile app or connecting directly to your TV but this is an issue we shouldn’t have to deal with. Your average consumer doesn’t know how to hardwire a sound bar or AV receiver. Connecting to bluetooth is just as simple as connecting to WiFi.

  • The fix

Allow more than Roku brand bluetooth devices to connect. Private listening is a big deal, especially with Roku users.

  • Do you agree with the issues above?
  • Are you having any issues with your Roku player?

If so, let me know what they are and maybe we can get the to them to the big wigs over at Roku. Also, be sure to follow me on my social profiles for more news, tech and info on cutting the cord.
