The Apple TV app is officially available to download on Roku devices. This comes just weeks ahead of their new Apple TV+ streaming service. Having their app available on other platforms was needed for them to be a viable contender in the streaming wars. Checking out the platform for myself I noticed a nice note displayed before you actually enter the app. A “see how we use your data” note front and center. Though I’m not a big Apple fan this definitely gives them some points in my book.
The text reads;
Apple collects information about your purchases, activity in the Apple TV app, and what and where you watch content in the Apple TV app n any of your supported devices. We use this information to provide the service a the Apple TV app for you and others and to improve.
We also collect information about the movies and TV shows you purchase and download to offer advertising to ensure that Search Ads in the App Store and much much more collecting.
This of course is no surprise that an app is collecting data but I admire them being upfront and placing this statement in a way that you’re tempted to view it.
The app has all the perks and features of the Apple TV app on Apples devices such as movie and TV show rentals . They do not offer any free content as of now but my PREDICTION is they will be offering some form of free content in the future especially when competition ramps up.
Be sure to check me out on YouTube for a live Preview of the Apple TV+ service and more like it.
