Comcast, the owner of Peacock TV, Xumo and Sky Group recently announced the release of an all new streaming device called XiOne, pronounced X-i-1. The XiOne is a plug-and-play device (similar to Roku and Amazon’s Fire TV stick) that features faster processing, increased memory, WiFi 6 support, 4K UHD, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and voice remote.

“When Sky joined the Comcast family, we brought together our engineers to share insights, roadmaps, talent, and technology to support our global customers. The launch of our new XiOne device is a direct result of these efforts and underscores how our collaborative development approach can bring new and innovative streaming products to markets faster and more efficiently,” said Charlie Herrin, President of Technology for Comcast.

The XiOne is already live to Sky Q customers in Italy and Germany and is beginning to rollout in the United States to Xfinity Flex, X1 customers and syndication partners.

The company did not release any specs or pricing, but based on photos and a YouTube video from September 2020 the device will perform like a Roku or Amazon Fire tv stick. With possible restrictions.
