Unlike regular televisions Smart TV‘s are much more advanced and complicated. For example, my smart tv took around 20 minutes to run a simple channel scan, whereas my regular television only takes about 5.
Wi-fi must be like crack for this thing, having no internet connection to the tv seems to throw it off a little and it takes a while to get back to regular over-the-air television.
I don’t have home Wi-fi and when I did the initial setup I used my cell phones hotspot. So the next day when I went to turn the tv on and there was no internet connection it took me through the initial setup process again which sucked.
The functionality with having internet connected is awesome. I also like how it explains almost every icon on the screen in small print, which is useful to someone who may be intimidated by such an advanced piece of equipment.
I went on to try the SmartCast or mirror feature without internet and it wont work. Your phone and television have to be on the same network or the tv has to be connected to your phones hotspot. For help there is an on screen user manual but you have to be connected to internet to display it.
The remote control is pretty simple to use, and I especially love how to buttons are aligned. It seems like they only put the buttons on there that you really need and they are all in perfect locations.
The sound quality is what you would expect from a tv. So I would recommend getting a sound bar or a headphone set if you’re hard of hearing.
If you have internet your transition to the future of televisions should be a smooth one.
I will be doing a series on Smart televisions and will be taking on questions and issues people may be having with theirs.
