In lieu of the Viacom deal Pluto TV has recently added some well known channels to its platform. The Viacom buyout has created mixed thoughts amongst Pluto TV lovers. One side believes that this could be a good thing by adding more popular channels, the other and the side I take is that eventually they will start charging for content. Are these new additions enough to warrant a subscription service? Granted if they do start charging i’m assuming they will add more premium content. I’d hate to see them go that route, I’m sure they make a pretty good amount of money off of ad revenue. Sony Crackle managed to do it even with a big name like Sony behind them. If in fact they do start charging to watch even if it’s a tier based system where they limit the content for free viewers that would show you just how greedy and how stupid these companies think we are. Bottom line is that we see this every day, companies getting you in with low streaming prices then going up on their rates in just a few months. And by the way streaming companies are raising their pricing way faster than the cable companies were.
