In addition to free live content, Redbox users can now watch free ad-supported on-demand movies via the Redbox app. Their content covers 7 different movie genres: crime, thriller, horror, kids, family, action and comedy. No documentaries.

For now, their movie library isn’t that big, but you will have access to some great movies like Maggie, Intruders, Cube, Transsiberian, Blitz, 51st State. With more to be added in the near future. Is this a big move for Redbox? I see this as a front door opportunity for them to bring in new customers. Similar to what Showtime is doing with “Showtime Selects” on Pluto TV.

Redbox is currently available on Roku, Apple TV, Android & iOS devices, VIZIO & LG Smart TVs and Xbox One. Redbox Free Live TV has over 90 channels and is available all devices list above plus Web Browsers.
