TiVo Stream 4k is the newest streaming device to hit the cord cutter market, and up until its release there was a lot of speculation on what the device could actually do.  Many TiVo fans were shocked to learn that there are no similarities or cross communicating between already established TiVo Devices.

This for many fans was a let down because many TiVo users were looking for an affordable primary streaming device similar to TiVo’s other devices:

The device itself uses the Android operating system which in my opinion is better than Roku because it gives users more accessory options. The downside to that is it can come off as just another Android streaming device with a TiVo logo.

Tech Specs

  • Chipset

What I Like:

  • Fast and responsive interface. No lagging
  • Integration of popular streaming services such as, Hulu, Starz, Tubi TV, ETC.
  • Ability to pair any bluetooth audio device
  • Access to the android store
  • Free access TiVo+

What I don’t Like:

  • No option or instructions on how to pair remote to control TV volume and power
  • Limited results when searching content
  • No actual TiVo abilities

Clearly the pros outweigh the cons. The general consensus now is that TiVo wasn’t looking to add another device for existing fans but to branch out and reach a different type of consumer.

As of now I can’t see this being a Primary streaming device because it has some bugs they need to work on. Like the screen going black and the lack of overall searchable access to streaming services.
