As a true cord cutter your main objective is to not pay for television or home internet. Now that doesn’t mean reroute your neighbors cable line to your house or hop on their wi-fi. Our main goal here is to save the most money.
The first thing you need to do is find a good cellphone plan. We’re looking for one that offers the most hotspot data for your area. Usually smaller companies like Metropcs or Boost mobile give you more for your money.
I spent 10 years with At&t paying over $120/month with 3gb of hotspot but then switched to Metropcs and got 3 times the hotspot for less than half the price. Boost has a 20gb plan.
Check their websites to see the coverage area before signing up.
Next is to check how far you are from the tv towers and find the correct antenna for you. There are plenty of options out there. For single rooms you can purchase standard antenna but for multiple rooms I recommend installing an outdoor or attic antenna so you can easily connect to the existing coax cables in your home.
Shop Hd antennas on Amazon.
Next is to choose whether or not you want to use a converter box. (Note that a converter box is only needed if you plan on recording live local stations using your hd antenna). And of course if you already have a HD tv you don’t need a converter box to receive programming but having a box will allow you to record your tv shows.
Plus you’ll have access to an electronic program guide and other features. Click here for a list of converter boxes that can record tv
