I spend a lot of time scouring the web, talking to people and friends to come up with content for my readers. There was a time when 3 hours of sleep was a good night for me, believe it or not. I recently came across a Bloomberg article that referenced the term ‘Streaming Wars.’ I thought to myself “Hmm, I’ve never, ever seen any other news site make that reference besides myself.” So I decided to do some research on the term and in my findings I found that I, me, otantenna.com was the first and only site to use this term. Of course you wont find it unless you search it on my website, but January of 2020 is when I first used the phrase.
During my research I also found that many other sites are using this same phrase but ironically no one is using it before January 2020. Did I coin this phrase? Based on my research I assume I did. My initial plan for the term was to be used when comparing 2 similar streaming services, but I see others are using it to reference content disputes between content holders and content providers.
Do I think I deserve credit?
Yes an no. To me it all depends on where the well leaked. Back into 2020 I can recall sending this article along with one other to BIG websites in an attempt to bring awareness to this website. Some didn’t respond and some declined. No biggie, I understand. The format and content probably wasn’t up to their standards. On the flip side, if a journalist has visited my website, even if the content was subpar at best, I would expect them to give credit where credit is due. By that I mean referencing me in their article or linking back to my site as others do.
