In the coming weeks Roku will be rolling out the new Roku OS 10.5 update. The new update is all about bringing Roku’s massive library of content front and center and making it easier for you to find the content you love.
Roku Channel ‘Live TV’ Guide
- Streaming player users will now have the option to add Roku Channels Live TV Channel Guide directly onto their home screen. Having a more traditional guide makes it easier to find content, rather than having to jump from section to section.
New and Expanded Roku Voice Features
- New Roku Voice features have been added including the ‘Roku Voice Help‘ feature that helps you learn what kinds of commands Roku Voice supports, like how to launch channels, music playback and search for movies and TV shows. Roku Voice Help can be found in the settings menu or by saying “What can I say?” to your remote
- Users will have a more integrated music experience when playing podcasts and music. You’ll now see search results within a more visual “music and podcasts” row and will feature Spotify as the launch partner.
- Users will be able to use Roku Voice to setup their device and login to supported apps.
Roku Mobile App
- You can now control your Roku Streambar’s sound settings, such as night mode, with automatic volume leveling, and speech clarity, directly in the mobile app.
- The newly added ’Home tab‘ in the Roku mobile app provides easy access to the latest in entertainment, channels, and zones, plus you can now save movies and TV shows to the ‘Save List’ to watch later.
Audio Experience Enhancements
- Advancements to the Audio/Video sync feature have been added to enhance the wireless private listening experience by automatically adjusting based on the type of wireless headphones connected.
- Roku Streambar’s can now be used as front speakers with the new 3.1 and 5.1 configuration. This creates a “room full of speakers” audio experience.
