In 2018 alone, more than 25 million people canceled their cable or satellite services, and over 50% of those people were already subscribed to some sort of pay streaming service.
You may ask why people pay for both cable TV and streaming services ? Well, after deep thought my hypothesis is that people have both because it’s in our ears and on the tely every second of everyday. In short it’s become a “trend”. The biggest reason to be a cord cutter is to save money, and if you’re not saving, then technically you are not a cord cutter.
When something new comes out, someone somewhere has to have it, and that’s what streaming is to most people. Yea there are perks to having a set top box service, but to pay for both is nonsense.
Cord cutting is a trend now but in the future people will most certainly be complaining about the pricing and programming just like they are about pay TV. And let me be clear about this, cord cutting isn’t a new fad it’s the beginning of a new era of television.
What you may not know, is that many of the pay TV providers are catering to the cord cutter community as well, which is to be expected, but do realize that we are pretty much paying the same people. The more popular it gets the more money content creators like Warner, Disney and Sinclair are gonna want for their programming. (from both sides)
With that being said, expect streaming prices to rise in the future because content creators will definitely take advantage of having money coming in from dozens of sources instead of the handful they had with pay TV.
