Well folks, I did it, week 4 is complete and I couldn’t be more happier. Not because of the results, but because I actually made it through the entire program. Throughout this whole process I learned a lot about myself and why at-home workout programs don’t always work out.<—— (See what I did there) I’ll explain more below.

Like many of you reading this, this wasn’t my first time trying an at-home workout program. My first was P90X back in 2007, which lasted only 2 weeks (let me explain). I was 24 years old at the time and I had just purchased a new home with a basketball setup in the driveway. For years my goal was to be able to dunk a regulation size rim. I learned about plyometrics from watching Seinfeld’s “The Jimmy” episode. Within 2 weeks of starting P90X and only focusing on plyometrics, I was able to dunk a 10′ goal with ease. With my goal reached, my motivation ended.

After that I tried Daily Burn, Beach Body on-Demand and countless others, all while having a gym membership. Sounds crazy right? One thing I learned while doing the Nike Training Club program is that the motivation comes from within. You! Me! If you really want change, it has to be a lifestyle change not just a physique change. And you and me both have to take accountability for the way we feel about ourselves. Bottom line is, any program will work as long as you’re fully committed to change.

For a full scope of my mindset going into this you can check out my day 1, week 1 blog. At the week 2 mark I was almost certain this program wasn’t the one for me, but I stuck with. At the time I didn’t realize this was the proverbial “hump” trainers refer to. My mind was looking for a way out. And to me it all made sense. I was telling myself things like, “this isn’t meant for regular people like me or”, “they’re already in shape, of course they can do this with ease.”

By week 3 I had to seriously regroup. I had to sit back and remind myself that 2 months from now I’m gonna be looking at my even bigger gut, mad that I didn’t stick with it. Wondering what this gut would look like if I had stuck with the program.

Final week

The Final week vs. week 1 are like night and day. My physical appearance didn’t change much, but I can actually feel the difference, especially in my core and flexibility. I started the program weighing in at 213 lbs. and my end weight is 206 lbs.

Final Thoughts

I went into this program expecting fast results, and when the workouts got tough I wanted to quit. (This ain’t for me) At the end I realized that when you really want change, you have to be willing to go alone with the process that creates it. These Nike trainers, Kirsty, Patrick, Brian, Betina and Alex know what they’re doing. If I can give you one thing to take away from this, I would say “Trust The Process.”
