The official trailer for Jordan Peele’s latest film aired during Super Bowl LVI and drew tons of media attention hitting over 5 million YouTube views in under 24 hours. Aside from the great trailer, the kicker for me was the movie’s title- Nope. “Nope” is a term I heard and used a lot growing up in an urban area, in fact, whenever I would use the term outside of my demographic, people would give a look similar to dog looking at or hearing something unfamiliar.

The film centers around residents of a lonely gulch in inland California who witness an uncanny and chilling discovery. Nope is scheduled to release in theaters on July 22nd, 2022 but the bigger question is what streaming service will it stream on. Peele’s previous films, ‘Get Out’ and ‘Us’ both streamed on Netflix but this was before the pandemic. Now streaming services are taking a more aggressive approach to get content.

Giving that the film is being distributed by Universal Pictures, a company owned by Comcast, who owns Peacock streaming service, who recently started pushing their premium subscription plan, there is a big chance this could be the film they use to put themselves in a position to compete with competitors.
