Earlier this year HBO Max announced same-day premieres for it’s 2021 theatrical releases, allowing its viewers to skip the theaters and watch the latest hit movies from home.
Newcomers to streaming may be a bit confused on how HBO Max works. For starters, HBO Max is a stand-along streaming service, meaning you don’t have to already be subscribed to the HBO channel through a cable or satellite provider to access the platform. But, if you are subscribed to HBO through a cable or satellite provider you may have free access to HBO Max.
Currently users can choose between 2 different plans, $9.99 with ads and $14.99 ad-free. ($9.99 plan does not include same-day premieres) Unfortunately the option for a free trial is no longer available. College students and Cricket Wireless phone users may be eligible to stream the service for free.
A select number of shows and movies are free to watch without signing up. HBO Max is available on Roku, Amazon, Cox Contour, Vizio, LG, Android IOS, Apple Air Play and more. Click here for a full list of compatible devices.
